What: NASA and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) are co-sponsoring a two-and-a-half-day workshop which will bring aviation weather researchers, UTM researchers, and UAS operators together to discuss weather impacts and requirements to enable safe and efficient low-altitude UAS traffic management (UTM).

Who: It is open to government, industry, academia, and other interested parties who have an interest in UTM weather topics.

When: Tuesday, Wednesday, July 19-20 0800-1700, and Thursday, July 21 0800-1200.

Where: Building 3, NASA Ames, Moffett Field, CA.

Why: The time is ripe to focus researchers and operators on the unique challenges associated with providing weather information for UASs and integrating this weather information into UTM.

How: Through engagement with key stakeholders in industry, academia and government during presentations and panel discussions.

Format: Presentations and panel discussions will focus on UTM weather issues with reference to:
  • Current state of the art in aviation weather research
  • Translating weather constraints to UAS impact
  • Addressing needs of the UAS community
Poster Session: If there is enough interest, a poster session will be held concurrent with an icebreaker after the first day.

Classification: Meeting will be unclassified.
